Who can foster in Gloucesterhire?

Some people are surprised that they fit the requirements for fostering. Nexus Fostering accepts carers from all walks of life and as long as you can commit to caring for a young person who is going through a difficult time, for as long as they need you and you have a spare bedroom then there is a good chance that you can go on and become a successful foster carer and improve the outcomes for a foster child. Our office in Gloucester holds regular drop in events which we would love to see you at.

Above all you need to enjoy the company of young people and have a commitment to helping them become healthy and happy adults. Practically speaking, you will need:

  • Tolerance, determination, optimism, resilience and a good sense of humour
  • Enthusiasm, commitment & stability
  • Prepared to foster from a wide age range
  • Open to receiving advice and guidance from other professionals around you
