About us

We look forward to a future where our fostered children and young people have become adults who can be proud of who they are, have forged lives for themselves that they value and have built families of their own which bring them comfort and pride and can attribute those achievements to their experience of Nexus Fostering.

Nexus Home And About Us Page

Nexus Fostering has been making a difference in the lives of vulnerable children and young people in care since 2002. Our ethos is centred around unrivalled support for our carers, extensive training and fostering excellence.

Our History

Nexus Fostering was founded in 2002 to provide high-quality fostering experiences within which children and young people enjoy a positive experience of family life and fulfil their full potential.

Over the following years, the company grew from strength to strength, primarily through its reputation and the recommendation of the carers approved by us, whose experience of our support and working relationships was shared with the fostering community as a whole and with potential fostering families taking the step for the first time.

Nexus Fostering has always had relationships at its heart- between staff and our carers, carers and our children and young people, staff and children, children and the agency.  We believe that the services we provide support those relationships and the communications within which the real work is done- the work of changing the lives of any child or young person placed in our care.

By 2022, we had been so successful in our growth that we needed to consider how to maintain the personal elements that were important to us and had been our foundation on a smaller scale.  How could we ensure that our success in attracting staff and carers didn’t put at risk those very relationships we valued, by becoming distant from each other? We made a plan to create two Nexus Fostering registrations from the original one agency: Nexus Fostering Midlands & West and Nexus Fostering Home Counties & East.

Each registration would be a mirror of the other- all the same services, practice and ethics but each led by a Registered Manager who knows their agency and is known by everyone, in the same way as everyone knew each other in the beginning.

Today, the two agencies sit side-by-side, only differing in the geographical area they cover.  Specialist support services, matching teams, and key administrative functions are shared, with a centralised Head office serving them both in equal measure. 6 consecutive ‘Outstanding’ ratings by Ofsted are testament to the consistency of meeting our original, united and lasting aim.

Whether ‘Home Counties & East’ or ‘Midlands & West’, the strength, passion, quality and heart of Nexus Fostering is the same.

Our Values

Strive for fostering excellence - At Nexus Fostering, we are dedicated to maintaining the highest standards in all aspects of fostering. We continuously work to improve our practices, ensuring that every child and young person in our care receives the best possible support. This commitment to excellence is reflected in our rigorous training programs, our comprehensive support systems, and our adherence to best practices in the fostering sector.

Giving carers exceptional support - Our foster carers and their children & young people are at the heart of what we do. To ensure they can provide the best care, we offer them exceptional support, including access to 24/7 assistance, regular training opportunities, and a strong network of fellow carers. This robust support system helps our carers feel confident and well-equipped to handle the challenges of fostering.

Enabling life-changing differences for vulnerable young people coming into care - Our ultimate goal is to make a profound, positive impact on the lives of vulnerable young people who come into our care. By providing a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment, we aim to help these young individuals heal, grow, and thrive, giving them the tools and confidence to build a brighter future.

We are deeply committed to providing a professional and personal service to foster carers, children, young people and local authorities.

Our teams have achieved an Outstanding rating from Ofsted consistently since 2011. We are grateful for the trust placed in us and for the opportunity to support so many children and young people.
