What information do we collect about you?

We collect information when you submit an enquiry form, send us a message via the website or email, or sign up to an event. This information includes contact details such as your name, email address, telephone number and postal address. By continuing with the enquiry process Nexus Fostering will be required to collect data categorised as sensitive personal data to help us understand your current situation as a potential Foster Carer. This may include, but is not limited to, your gender, marital status, sexuality, age, health and ethnicity.

How will we use this information?

We will use the details you provide to contact you about becoming a Foster Carer with Nexus Fostering. You will be contacted by a member of the recruitment team by telephone or email to talk through your enquiry and, if agreed, to arrange an initial home visit should you wish to take your interest further.

If you go on to apply and to be assessed as a Foster Carer the information you have provided will be included as part of that process.

Website visit information is collected using cookies. This information lets us keep track of how the website is used – such as how many times users are visiting our site each month or what they are searching for – without being able to personally identify the user (unless they specifically tell us). More information on Cookies and how to restrict these is given below.

We use the non-identifying information from website cookies to analyse trends and statistics on the way users use the website. We use all this information to improve our content, plan site enhancements, and measure overall site effectiveness.

Guidance as to how the information is stored

Your identifying information will be stored securely on both electronic and cloud-based databases provided by Social Care Network Solutions Limited and ‘Cloudserve’. All of our outsourced service providers comply with GDPR.

Our databases are confidential and your data will never be sold to any third parties.

Access to your information and your right to be forgotten

You have a right to request a copy of the information we hold about you. You may ask us to correct or remove any information you think is inaccurate.

Information given to Nexus Fostering at the enquiry stage will be stored for a maximum of 5 years from the date of enquiry, whether or not you receive an Initial Visit or decide not to take your interest further. This helps us to advise you if you contact us again. You have the right to request deletion of these records before the 5 year period we have set.

We are required for Ofsted monitoring purposes to hold numerical information regarding enquiries, but this will not contain identifying information.

If you make an application, whether or not you withdraw, your personal data will also be stored for a period of 5 years. You have the right to request deletion of these records after 3 years.

If you would like to have your identifying personal information removed from Nexus Fostering’s databases please email: foster@nexusfostering.com

If you are approved, your information will be kept for 10 years from the point you leave us or until you reach retirement age, whichever is the longer. This timescale is set by Fostering Services Regulations 2011 which take priority over the ‘right to be forgotten’ of GDPR.
