Pride in Belper’s gold sponsor, Nexus Fostering, talk fostering within the LGBTQ+ community

Sponsorship Of Pride In Belper

Nexus Fostering, an Ofsted outstanding independent fostering agency, was the proud gold sponsor of this year’s Pride in Belper which took place on the 5th of August 2023. Belper was bursting with pride as it championed LGBTQ+ inclusion and celebrations were packed full of colour, love, fun, laughter, friendship, and community spirit. June marked the celebration of LGBTQ+ history month and we are working hard to raise awareness about fostering amongst the LGBTQ+ community, to encourage people to provide a loving and stable home, and to consider fostering a child in your local area.

We are showing our support by sponsoring Pride in Belper, a charity that fully supports the LGBT+ communities in our town. Pride in Belper’s community focus ‘SAID’ aimed for the event to be the most sustainable, accessible, inclusive, and diverse yet.

Mary Mclean Farmer, Treasurer at Pride in Belper speaks about how the importance of support from local businesses such as Nexus Fostering ‘Pride in Belper believes that real inclusion reflects an unedited society. Receiving sponsorship from organisations like Nexus Fostering helps us realise this statement because it shows that all families are welcome and can be represented at Pride in Belper, whatever their makeup because ALL families matter.’

Nexus Fostering has been making a difference in the lives of children and young people in care since 2002. Our ethos is centered around unrivalled 24/7 support for our carers, extensive training, and fostering excellence.

We believe that your personal qualities and what you can offer make you a great foster carer, not your gender or sexual orientation. The sad reality is that thousands of new foster carers are needed every year with the rising number of vulnerable children and young people coming into care. Fostering looks to stop the cycle of neglect, and tackles homelessness, substance abuse, domestic abuse, and poverty. By becoming a foster carer you can give a safe, caring home environment whilst they’re unable to live with their birth family and enable these children to grow and flourish into independent, well-rounded adults.
