Nexus One Family supporting your birth children

Nexus 1 Family (1)

At Nexus Fostering we know birth children play a crucial role in creating a nurturing environment. Nexus One Family was created by Ryan (Head of Participation) and a foster carer, who was a birth child in a foster family and witnessed domestic violence first-hand. It was crucial we had a safe space where the voices of our birth children can be heard, understood, and celebrated.

Ryan spoke about what they provide as part of the vibrant virtual online community specially designed for foster carers' children.

‘It is a place where they can come together, connect, and talk about the highs and lows of being an invaluable part of a fostering household. We know that each birth child plays a crucial role in creating a nurturing environment, and we believe it's essential to have a platform where their voices can be heard, understood, and celebrated.’

Here's what children can expect from the Nexus One Family:

  1. A Safe and Supportive Environment: Nexus One Family is a judgment-free zone where they can freely express their thoughts, feelings, and experiences without any fear of being misunderstood. It's a space filled with understanding, empathy, and encouragement.
  2. Virtual meet-ups: We organise regular virtual meet-ups where they can gather with other children in fostering households. These meet-ups provide an opportunity to share stories, exchange advice, and learn from one another. Whether they want to talk about the challenges they face or the moments of joy they’ve experienced, Nexus One Family is the perfect platform to do so.
  3. Expert Guidance: We collaborate with professionals experienced in fostering to provide valuable insights, tips, and guidance. Our team is dedicated to supporting birth children and helping them navigate any difficulties that may arise. Together, we can find solutions, celebrate achievements, and grow stronger as a community.

Any of our birth children at Nexus Fostering can become part of this remarkable community and we will provide all the necessary information to join our upcoming virtual meet-ups and be a part of this incredible support network. We also have our youth council which is available for both looked-after children and birth children, enabling our young people to voice any concerns and participate with others.

We hope that by joining Nexus One Family, children will discover a sense of belonging, find comfort in knowing that they’re not alone, and build connections that can last a lifetime.
