We’re thrilled to share that Nexus Fostering has once again been rated Outstanding in every area by Ofsted.
If you’re wondering what that means, Ofsted is the government body that checks the quality and safety of services that care for children. Their top rating of Outstanding means we’re providing care that goes far beyond the expected standard – giving children stability, happiness and the best possible start in life.
The inspection found that children with Nexus Fostering make excellent progress and feel safe, cared for and listened to.
“Nexus Fostering provides highly effective services that consistently exceed the standards of good.”
Our foster carers are specially trained in therapeutic parenting, which means they understand how trauma affects children and how to respond with patience and compassion. We also have a strong team of therapists, clinicians and education specialists to make sure every child’s needs are met.
We make sure children have a voice in everything we do. Our Children’s Ambassador Group meets regularly to share ideas, plan events and give feedback that helps us improve.
“Being part of the group has helped me feel more confident and comfortable to take on more responsibility.”
Children have even helped create a new comic-style guide to fostering, making it fun and easy to understand. Some young people also help interview new staff and speak openly about their experiences to help us learn.
Education is a big part of our work. Our education team tracks every child’s progress and steps in quickly if extra help is needed. We even train teachers to better understand children who have faced trauma.
Foster carers shared stories of children who have overcome great challenges and gone on to attend college or university.
We also celebrate achievements big and small – from completing The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award to gaining confidence in daily life.
Nexus Fostering has introduced new roles to support every child’s identity and individuality. Our Neurodiversity Lead and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Lead make sure every child feels understood, whatever their background or needs.
A former foster child who came to the UK alone now works with us as a mentor, helping new arrivals settle in and feel welcome.
Ofsted highlighted that children feel safe and know who to turn to if they’re worried.
“I feel safe 24/7, and if I didn’t, I would speak to my auntie (foster carer) or my social worker.”
Our carers and staff receive ongoing training in safeguarding, de-escalation and communication, including Makaton, so every child can express themselves and be heard.
Inspectors praised our leadership team as “inspirational, confident and ambitious for children”. Our managers and carers share the same goal – to give every child the best possible chance in life.
Foster carers told inspectors that the support they receive from Nexus is excellent, from high-quality training to regular supervision and opportunities to connect with other carers.
If you’re considering fostering – or thinking about transferring from another agency – we’d love to talk to you.
At Nexus Fostering, you’ll receive:

Ofsted described Nexus Fostering as Outstanding because of the difference our carers make every day.
