Nexus Fostering introduces AI to enhance support for children and foster carers

At Nexus Fostering, we’re proud to be part of BSN Social Care, the parent company of six independent fostering agencies across England and Wales. Together, BSN supports over 850 children and young people, helping them to realise their full potential.

Despite the dedication of our teams, we know that vital support can sometimes be slowed down by the burden of administration. That’s why BSN Social Care is leading the way as the first fostering group in the UK to implement Magic Notes, an innovative AI tool developed by Beam.

Magic Notes records sessions and automatically generates detailed assessments and case notes in minutes, saving our teams an average of eight hours a week on paperwork. For Nexus Fostering, this means our social workers can spend more time building relationships with children and foster carers and less time behind a desk.

As an organisation founded, owned, and managed by social workers, BSN values that Magic Notes is purpose-built for social welfare and designed by frontline teams who truly understand the realities of foster care.

Grace Wyatt, Director of BSN Social Care, said,

“We were immediately drawn to Magic Notes because of the clear positive impact it would have on staff across the business - from our internal teams to our social workers who meet daily with foster carers. We’re excited about the technology’s potential to improve staff wellbeing, while also allowing them to spend more time connecting and less time typing. We’ve also been impressed by how light-touch and fast it’s been to deploy, making it incredibly easy for people to use - even those with low tech abilities.”

Nexus Fostering is proud to be part of BSN Social Care’s innovation journey, showing how technology can meaningfully enhance the care and support we provide to children and their foster families.
