Nexus Fostering helped beat the Guinness World Record for MK Can Foodbank

This October Nexus Fostering was proud to be part of the MK Food Bank presents ‘MK CAN’  – a major whole Milton Keynes effort to smash the current world record for the longest line of cans of food.  Businesses, community groups, schools, churches and Parish councils adopted a section of the 10km line, helping the Food Bank support thousands of households in crisis, and putting our city on the world map.

When Nexus Fostering heard that MK Foodbank in Milton Keynes was holding the ‘MK Can’ – A World Record attempt, lining up 10km of cans for MK Food Bank. We had to get involved! We understand the importance of every household having food on the table and a hot meal to enjoy, whether that be as an individual or as a family.

As a fostering agency, we know how vulnerable children can suffer from food poverty and how this can have a detrimental effect on their well-being and health. With thousands of children coming into care each year, we want to help wherever possible. So, getting involved in the MK Can Cause was a no-brainer.

With the help of our staff and foster carers donating 492 tins, we have helped beat the world record of 102,447 tins across 10km alongside 249 local businesses. We managed to beat the world record and are now a part of the Guinness World Record. The record to beat was 44,966 cans across 3.28km. Well done to all involved.

Our Ampthill office attended on the day to get involved in beating the World Record.
