Nexus Fostering Family in Footloose Production

Untitled (Instagram Post (Square))

Stephen and Cheryl have been fostering for sixteen years, looking after and supporting many children who have needed a home. In 2009 Stephen was asked to take part in the show Guys and Dolls for The Tab, a musical theatre society founded in 1947 and based in the Midlands that provides opportunity for performers in the Black Country area to be involved in productions. Since then, Stephen has been taking part and worked on lots of production with The Tab.

Stephen’s two foster children are now working alongside him in the production of Footloose the Musical. Here’s what he had to say about his latest production and working with his foster children:

“My eldest brother John has been a member for over sixty years and in that time I have helped out back stage. Since then, our own birth daughter and many of the looked after children who have been with us have performed in countless shows and pantomimes. As a family, we find it helps our children to gain much needed self-esteem and they have enormous fun making friends young and old.”

He continues “Now, we are all in Footloose a high-energy show set in the early 1980’s. All of our girls love performing, and these shows help them practice all their various skills: acting, singing and dancing."

It is amazing to see a child arrive to stay with us with little confidence and see them become amazing performers, like most children if you give them opportunities, they never cease to amaze you.

The performances are taking place on the 14th through until the 18th of March 2023 with all evening performances start at 7.30pm and there is also a Saturday matinee 2.30pm at Stourbridge town hall.
