Back Once More: Nexus Carers Make Time to Give Again

Baby Basics Donation Picture

Nexus Fostering recently enjoyed a wonderful morning volunteering with Baby Basics Northampton, a charity that lovingly supports new parents who are struggling to provide the essentials for their babies.

Baby Basics prepares beautiful newborn starter packs filled with clothing, nappies, toiletries, blankets, and other items that help families welcome their little ones with comfort and dignity. This visit marked the second time Nexus has returned to support the charity.

Alongside Nexus staff, two of our foster carers also joined the volunteering day. Despite already playing a huge role in caring for some of the most vulnerable children and young people, they came along to sort donations, prepare baby packs, and help organise supplies. Their generosity and warmth brought a special energy to the day.

At Nexus Fostering, supporting young families is a key part of what we do — especially through our parent-and-child fostering arrangements. These arrangements give parents and their newborns a safe, nurturing home where they can learn, grow, and stay together.

The need for dedicated parent-and-child foster carers is greater than ever, and volunteers like those who joined us on the day show just how much of a difference a compassionate home can make to a vulnerable child.

Alongside volunteering, Nexus also donated £200, which will help Baby Basics purchase vital new items that must be supplied unopened — such as toiletries, nappies, newborn clothing, and hygiene products. These are some of the most-needed items the charity provides, and the donation helps ensure that families receive safe, high-quality essentials during a time when every bit of support matters.

We’re proud to have returned, and even prouder of our incredible carers and staff whose compassion continues to shine — both inside and outside their fostering roles. A special thank you goes to Tina and Katie, our amazing foster carers.
