Fostering is one of the most fulfilling and worthwhile things you can do and, while we know that people do not go into fostering for the money, it is important that you are recompensed for your time and effort in directly improving outcomes for Looked After Children.
As a Nexus Fostering carer you are paid when you have a child living with you, and there is an expectation that a proportion of the fostering allowance is allocated to caring for the child (accommodation, food, clothes etc) and building their self-esteem (hobbies, after-school clubs etc).
The allowance varies depending on the age of the child, the challenges they bring, and the type of fostering placement.
When you foster with us you are classed as self-employed. You’ll pay very little, or no, tax and national insurance.
