Foster carers are always in high demand in Warwickshire as the amount of young people in care is constantly on the rise, which is why Nexus Fostering needs you! You have the potential to provide a safe and happy home for a young person in your area. These children and young people have grown up in the same area as you but have probably had very different experiences. You have the opportunity to show them how great life can be by starting a rewarding career in fostering today.
Picture the scene. Your foster child, Lucy, aged 14, comes home from school on the last day before summer holidays. She has a huge grin on her face as you greet her at the door. She comes rushing over excitedly to you, flashing her school report under your nose. She is proud of herself because since she started living with you she has been given the best school report she has ever had. You feel proud of her achievement and glad that you were able to help her. You then tell her that as a reward, you will be taking her on a seaside holiday during the summer. She starts to cry and you comfort her and ask her why she is crying. She tells you that she has never been to the seaside before and that this is the best thing that ever happened to her. Can you imagine how this would make you feel? These are the kind of experiences you could be having if you start fostering today!
If you are keen to get your fostering career off to a start, you should first decide whether you are eligible to provide foster care. The non-negotiable requirements of our foster carers are that they are able to offer their foster child their own bedroom within the family home and that they will be available to their foster child whenever needed. You can find out more information about who is eligible to foster in our Q&A section.
If you have decided that you are eligible to foster, your next step is to decide what type of foster care you would like to provide, whether that be short-term foster care, long-term foster care and permanence or parent and child fostering. Next, you can get in touch with us so that we can either give you more information or get your application started straight away. You can find out more information about the assessment process here.
