“One of our greatest pleasures is sharing fun times with our fostering families so our annual summer events are always greatly anticipated. I was delighted by the numbers of people who were able to join each event; summer holidays can mean many of them are away on their annual summer break, so it was a real joy to see so many were able to join in.”   Grace Wyatt, CEO of Nexus Fostering

Region by region a small army of Nexus Fostering families ventured to local attractions for fun, activities and picnics this summer.  Towards the end of July, our team in the Anglia region whiled away a gorgeous summer’s day on a sunny east coast beach and at the end of August convened a the stunning Thetford Forest for a BBQ and games.

One of the biggest pleasures must be to just mess about on the river, so our lucky fostering families in Cambridgeshire did just that!  A delightful punt up the river Cam from the historic Quayside in July was followed by a day of sports, activities and a picnic at the pretty Over Community Centre.

Our team in the Midlands marvelled at the meerkats, watched the white rhino and admired the animals at the West Midland Safari and Leisure Park during a visit in late July. This really is a spectacular day out with something to amuse everyone and so much to see and do, everyone was happy and tired at the end of their day there. A quieter pursuit followed in mid-August with a picnic and games which everyone enjoyed and the sun shone brightly.

In London, the team planned a trip to the beautiful and historic Verulamium Park, near St Albans, for early August, but encountered the only rainy day of the summer, so sadly had to put their plans on hold. The weather was kinder at Gullivers Land in Milton Keynes later that month, with a huge range of rides, activities and entertainment for all.

Looking east, towards our team in Essex, two wonderful events took place.  Celebrating the start of the summer holidays with a delicious picnic and fun at King George’s Park in Brentwood where the girls beat the boys at rounders and ending August with a trip to Adventure Island in Southend, everyone had a great time. The weather was warm, the rides were great and the boys have vowed revenge next summer; they’re determined to triumph at rounders!

Last, but most definitely not least, our lovely team in the Gloucestershire enjoyed the July sunshine, relaxing, picnicking and playing games in the beautiful Forest of Dean. They joined each other in late August for a day trip to Drayton Manor Park, a firm favourite with our fostering families!
