salary: £24,000 - £26,000 per annum

working pattern: 37 hours per week, 9.00am - 5.00pm Monday-Friday with on call rota at evenings and weekends

We have been rated ‘Outstanding’ for three consecutive inspections since 2011 and are dedicated to improving the lives of looked after children.

 

We work in close partnership with local authorities to identify and meet the needs of their children, providing safe, secure and therapeutic placements.  We work hard to ensure children experience love, care, nurture and stability with our carers.

 

the role

 

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Social Care Practitioner to join our Bedfordshire team.

 

We are looking for a dedicated and passionate individual to work closely with foster carers, children and professionals, to ensure that all children/young people’s outcomes are improving in placements.

 

As Social Care Practitioner you will manage a caseload of foster carers and the children and young people placed with them, providing a high level of supervision and support.

 

You will participate in the active recruitment of foster carers, as well as undertaking professional assessments of foster carers alongside your manager (currently Form F model).  You will also present written reports the fostering panel.

 

You will assist in preparation training for foster carers, as well as participating in and presenting post-approval training.  You will also be responsible for ensuring that all administration required for placements is undertaken efficiently and promptly.

 

location

 

For this role, willingness to travel and use of a car is essential as the successful applicant will be required to support foster carers and visit placements across the Luton/Bedfordshire area.

 

what we’re looking for…

 

To apply for this position, it is essential you:

 

  • Experience of direct work with Looked After Children and foster carers.
  • Knowledge and understanding of child protection issues.
  • Knowledge of all relevant current childcare legislation and the current legislation, regulations and guidance set out for fostering services.
  • Clear and concise communication skills – verbal and written.
  • Full clean driver’s licence and supply own vehicle.
  • Ability to work with children and families.
  • Willingness to contribute to effective supervision.
  • Ability to work some anti-social hours (weekends, evenings).
