Description

Salary: £15 Per Hour (£10.70 travel time and report writing. 45p mileage)

Location: Cambridgeshire

Working Pattern: Casual Basis/Ad Hoc. Flexible to include evenings and weekends.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Casual Support Worker to join the team at Nexus Fostering on a casual basis.  We are looking for a compassionate and caring support worker to be based at our Cambridge office, which covers Cambridgeshire & Northamptonshire.

The Role

As Support Worker you will help support children and young people in the Nexus 360 Foster Placement.  Nexus 360 is a specialist service designed to meet the needs of children/young people who have experienced neglect, trauma and rejection.

As Support Worker you will be providing one to one support to the children/young people within the community, such as leisure activities or at school.  You will work closely with the Supervising Social Worker to support the foster carers and encourage the child/young person’s engagement with their care plan and goals.

This post is for a competent worker to engage in direct, focused work with children – to build positive relationships with the child/young person, to model acceptable behaviour and help the child/young person to trust and feel safe with adults.

For this role, willingness to travel and use of a car is essential as the successful applicant will be required to support foster carers and visit placements across Cambridgeshire & Northamptonshire.

What we’re looking for…

  • Willing to work flexible hours, including non-office hours and at weekends
  • Hold a full UK Driving Licence and have access to a vehicle for work purposes
  • Willing to undertake an enhanced DBS
  • Experience within child care
  • An understanding of challenging behaviours and trauma
  • A good understanding of the needs of looked after children
  • Share a commitment to Equal Opportunities in all work practices and to improving the lives of Looked After Children.
