Christmas and care – part 3

21 November 2017

“Talk to the young person about what is happening; a lot of them like routine, and Christmas is a time when routine doesn’t really happen, so let them know what is going on.

Give them space, don’t always expect them to want to be joining in, and being the life and soul of the party, as there may be times when that young person is missing their own family opr dealing with some tricky emotions.

Ask them if there is something specific they would like, or like to do. Maybe arrange an outing as a family to do something festive, e.g. ice skating. Something positive where you can start making nice memories for the young person.”
