Types of Fostering

Children and young people placed with Nexus Fostering carers have unique and diverse needs. They may have been physically, emotionally or sexually abused, neglected by parents unable to care for them or they may have witnessed domestic violence, criminal activity or substance abuse. Any of these backgrounds may lead to behaviour that is difficult and challenging and will require patience and understanding from foster carers.

Nexus Fostering also provides placements for children with special needs, both physical and educational, and for sick children. Sometimes Local Authorities seek a placement with foster carers for a parent and their young child or baby to assess their parenting ability, or provide experienced advice and support to a new parent who is struggling in this role. Our placements may be planned or made on an emergency basis. Some placements become permanent or are made on a planned permanent basis.
