International Conference on foster care
On Thursday 16th and Friday 17th of September 2010 Foster Care Flanders is organising a European Conference on Foster Care in Leuven, Belgium. The conference is open to anyone involved or interested in foster care: clients, foster families, foster carers, governments and professionals from other services both from Belgium and abroad.

New roles
Due to the growth of the agency, two new roles have been created to ensure a continuing high level commitment to a professional, quality service for foster carers, children and young people placed with them, and Local Authorities.

Paul Corner has joined as Assistant Director. He has 24 years experience in Childrens Services with a Local Authority and Independent Fostering Provider. He will be responsible for maintaining excellent relationships with Local Authorities, ensuring the highest level of service to children, Local Authorities and carers.

Sally Pitcher is our Quality Assurance Manager. She has been a social worker for 20 years and most recently worked with a fostering provider, supporting and then recruiting and overseeing the assessments of carers. Her role is to ensure that Nexus Fostering meets the standards required to be 'fit for purpose' and that we demonstrate our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Meeting room for hire
Do you need a meeting room for contact, supervision, or therapy? All of our offices in Harborne, Harrow, Ketteringham and Fen Ditton have a child-friendly room for hire. Our hourly rate includes use of toys and games and Ketteringham and Fen Ditton have an outside area for playing. Kitchen facilities are available.

Nexus Fostering had its first review of the Investor in People award in February 2009 and is delighted to retain the award that it originally received in January 2006. IiP is a national standard of best practice with a focus on strategic planning, culture & communication, developing people, effective management and managing performance.
